Jurisdiction – Name change — Minor 

Where a judge granted a minor’s petition to change his last name, that decision should be upheld, as the judge did not lack subject-matter jurisdiction, nor did the minor’s failure to meet the requirements in MCL 711.1 preclude the judge from granting the petition on common-law grounds.
